Is your broken bone healing as quickly as possible?

On Behalf of | Sep 16, 2019 | Firm News |

A recent serious injury, maybe a car accident on a busy California highway, resulted in you suffering a broken bone. While recovering, you likely want to get back to work and your regular day-to-day life as quickly as possible.

To help get your cast off faster, Verywell Health offers tips for boosting the healing process. Do not let the pain caused by another’s negligence linger in your bones for longer than necessary.

Watch what you eat

Every time you sit down for a meal, consider what is on your plate. Focus on eating highly nutritional foods packed with vitamins and minerals, to give your break what it needs to heal. Consult with a nutritionist about which foods and food groups are the best for healing.

Put down the cigarettes

If you smoke, you may puff up more out of frustration at your broken bone. While an understandable reaction, it is also one that could stagger your recovery. Smoking causes changes to the flow of blood through your body, and blood moves all the nutrients touched on above through your system to your bones. Refrain from smoking to heal up faster.

Follow the doctor’s orders

Whatever type of treatment plan your doctor prescribed, be sure you stick to it. If you have difficulty doing so, ask your doctor about alternatives that are just as effective as the original recommendation.

Take it easy with the calcium

Yes, calcium helps overall bone health, but that does not mean you want to consume double (or even triple) the daily recommended amount of calcium. Stick to getting the recommended dose each day and leave it at that. More is most certainly not better, in this case.
